Coastline of Madeira Photo Gallery

Praia Formosa is a bay on the south coast of Madeira island. It can be reached on foot by passing through the tunnel at the Doca do Cavacasn Swimming Pool, Ponta da Cruz. It can also be reached by car by travelling westward along the Estrada Monumental. You pass a large Pestana Hotel on your left. Turn right as the road crosses a small bridge before it rises up the valley side. The small road you turned into, double backs on itself and you will pass residential apartments on your left. Keep on towards the coast and the free car parks. There is a cobbled beach and free public swimming with lifeguards in attendance. Along the front are an assortment of little cafes and some sporting facilities.
