The Avenida M Arriaga is the main street that leads into the centre of Funchal from the Rotunda do Infante that is situated at the bottom of Santa Catarina Park. The Jacaranda trees seen in the photograph are only one attraction of this thoroughfare, though. Jardim Municipal, otherwise known as Jardim de São Francisco, greets the visitor as they enter the street and it is a popular destination for the locals who feel in need of a lazy moment or two as they listen to the nearby water fountain.
