There is a cable car ride that travels from the seafront in Funchal up to Monte. Run by the Teleféricos da Madeira company, the facility is open daily from 10:00am to 6:00pm. You can purchase a one-way or return ticket and enjoy some spectacular views of Madeira's capital city. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes one way and is an attraction that the tourist should not miss - unless you happen not to like heights. The cable car travels over the city and then up alongside the João Gomes valley, over the Cota 200 motorway and upwards on to Monte.
