The cable car from the Botanical Gardens up to Monte

There are two cable car journeys in Funchal. The second is operated by the Teleferico Jardim Botanico company and travels from the popular Jardim Botanical Gardens up to Babosas Square, Monte. The journey takes just 9 minutes, proceeding at a steady pace of 4.2 m/s, passing across the João Gomes Valley and up to Monte. A one way journey is about 1,600 metres. The cable car is open daily from 9:30am to 6:00pm. One way or return tickets can be purchased and the spectacular views means it is a tourist attraction that should not be missed - unless you happen to suffer from a fear of heights!
