The cable car from the Botanical Gardens up to Monte

The cable car journey from the Jardim Botanico up to Monte is operated by the Teleferico Jardim Botanico company. It was opened in September 2005 and has quickly become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Funchal. From inside the botanical gardens, you can get to the cable car terminal by proceeding to the top of the gardens. Alternatively, you can go directly to the cable car entrance which is situated on the Caminho das Voltas. Town buses 29 and 30 stop by the entrance, whilst town bus 31 stops a little way down the hill from the terminal. There is also a car park alongside the terminal.
