You can pick up the Levada dos Tornos from Babosas at Monte. The first length of the walk from Romeiros to Palheiro Ferreiro renders some spectacular panoramic views over Funchal and its harbour. However, parts along this section of the levada have long stretches with sheer, unprotected drops - so you will need to be sure-footed and not wary of heights. For those with a head for heights, the views of the forested valley with Madeira's capital city sitting beyond is a reward worth appreciating.
