The Levada dos Tornos was completed in 1966 and, today, it offers the tourist some marvellous views over Funchal and it's harbour. The levada is some 66 miles (106km) in length, but it is the first stretch from Romeiros to Palheiro Ferreiro that offer the panoramic views of Madeira's capital city. As a bonus, visit Monte first and then pick up the levada by walking down to Babosas (where the cable car from the Jardim Botanico terminates).
