Traditional house at Santana
Start ¦ Prev ¦ Main ¦ Next ¦ End
The traditional houses of Santana have a thatched straw roof that slopes either side of the building down to the ground, thus giving the structure a triangular shape. The thatch is typically changed once every four years. The walls are stark white with the doors and windows a bright red trimmed with blue. The houses are unique to the Santana area of the island and are surprisingly spacious inside.
