On the penultimate day of the Flower Festival, children build a wall of hope. The children's procession starts at about 10:00am. There are hundreds of junior school children, all either in National Costume or another uniform, carry flowers through Funchal town centre. They walk from the fountain at the Rotunda do Infante, at the bottom of Santa Catarina park, along Avenida Arriaga, then up to Praça do Município. Here the children take turns to climb the steps to place their flowers in the hedging to form a "wall of hope" or "Muro de Esperança" against the college building.
