The name Garajau means "tern" in Portuguese. The black-headed sea birds nest on the cliffs in this small village. However, the cliffs are also home to the locals as, as can be seen in the photo, houses are expertly built into the sheer coastal terrain, offering the inhabitants wonderful sea views.
