Stepping The World (Hall TV) - Part 1
This Madeira video is a made for TV travel documentary in the Stepping the World series. It is 10 minutes and 22 seconds in length. Initially, Richard Hall explains that the extension to Funchal Airport's runway is aimed at boosting tourism. However, the nature of the Island means that this popular holiday destination will be able to cope with the ever increasing swell of tourists.
We are then taken on a brief tour of the more remote parts of the island. Here, the delights of levada walking are explored. As Richard says: "It's not a television thing, you got to come here and see that for yourself." And, as if to emphasize that observation, we are given just a taster of Madeira's capital, Funchal, and it's bustling fresh fruit and fish market.
Stepping The World (Hall TV) - Part 2
This video is the second half of the episode in the Madeira Stepping the World programme. If you ever wanted to know what deep sea fishing is like, then this part will not disappoint. Although, no dolphins were caught - apart from on camera. Then, it's off for a glimpse inside perhaps the most exclusive hotel on the island. Which, naturally, puts Richard in the mood for a bit of Madeiran wine tasting.
The programme concludes with a look at the contrasting modes of transport available. The traditional Monte toboggan run may be exhilarating, but a helicopter trip over the coast is simply awesome. And, if having watched the video you think that you have now seen Madeira, then think again. Since this programme was made, change has continued with a pace - there's more than ever, just waiting to be explored and discovered.
